Detlef Zoo has released a new music video |
27.03.2008 |
|
As mentioned earlier, Detlef Zoo,together with their creative partners ,filmed the video in Manchester.
Manchester is a city with a special aura and contributions to the history of british music. Countless excelent bands have originated from Manchester - The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Verve, Elbow, Doves etc. These traditions and the overall atmosphere of the town matched with our sense of music and particulary with the song Love Town. Thats why we chose Manchester - says the band leader Uldis Dirnēns.
The filming of the video took place in the city centre and also in the industrial part of the town and at a popular rehersal place for local bands under the supervision of Sandijs Lūsēns, Juris Pīlēns un Uldis Dirnēns.
It should be added that on the 12th of April in Cesis Detlef Zoo will begin their new tour in support of their new album Skapī. Throughout the tour Detlef Zoo will perform in eight Latvian cities. The final concert will take place on the 3rd of May in Liepāja at Fontaine Palace.
The music video can be seen here.

New video by Detlef Zoo a greeting from Machester |
10.03.2008 |
|
Detlef Zoo, together with their creative companions, have returned from Manchester, where they had been shooting a new video for the song Love Town, taken off their album Skapī.
Manchester is a city with a special aura and it has definately left a mark in the history of British music. Countless popular bands have originated from Manchester - The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Verve, Elbow, Doves etc. These traditions, the city atmosphere and appearance supposedly related to our sense of music and the song Love Town. This is why we made this choice, says the leader of Detlef Zoo Uldis Dirnēns.
The shooting under the supervision of Sandija Lūsēna, Juris Pīlēns un Uldis Dirnēns took place not only in the industrial part of Manchester, but also in the city centre and at a rehearsal place where many hometown bands rehearse. Love Town is the bands next single due to be aired on radio soon simultaneously with the delivery of the video. |

New album by Detlef Zoo Skapi out on December 6th |
06.12.2007 |
|
On the 6th of December Mic Rec PM and Mic Rec presented Detlef Zoo new album "Skapī". It was recorded in 2006./07 in London under the supervision of British producer and musician Andy Gill (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gang of Four, Futureheads etc.). The album also contains a bonus track the well know hit " So cold" , produced by George Shilling. The album contains a total of 13 songs in English and Latvian.
The band's previous album "Tu izliecies par sevi", released in 2004, gained both critical and public acclaim. Due to the changes in the lineup and Andy Gill's busy schedule with his band Gang of Four and his involvement in other projects ( the debut album by The Young Knives, which was produced by Andy Gill, was nominated for this year's prestige Mercury award) there was a considerable time of silence for the band. The sound of the new album is more matured, professional, but still contains the characteristics of modern guitar rock with influences ranging from the Beatles to Radiohead. The band admits that working with Andy Gill was an experience that cannot be replaced. It is worth noting that during the recording sessions there was such a strong creative bond between the producer and the band that Andy Gill became co-author of the lyrics and music.

Greetings to all |

We are back in London again and we have one bad and one good thing to tell you. The bad one it is now clear that the release of the new album is put off till next spring. The good one finally we have seriously taken up the work in the studio, which is the reason why we wont be seen in Latvia so often.
The release of the album was delayed because for the whole summer we have been looking for a professional producer. It was important to find someone with whom we could have mutual understanding and musical harmony, and we are convinced that Andy Gill is the right person. His experience gained when playing in the band Gang of Four and producing Red Hot Chili Peppers, Futureheads, The Stranglers and others is extremely useful to us.
At present we have finished the recording of two songs Part of Endless Story and Close Your Eyes the first one sounds more rock and the other one is more lyrical. Until the beginning of winter we have intended to record six more tracks and the rest of the album will be finished until spring. The things havent been going quickly but they are exciting enough. We like it though! Probably the new songs will be slightly different than expected, but the things that do not change, cease to be
It was not easy to put up with the thought that we have to postpone the release of the album till next year but we have to take into account that Andy is completely tied up with other projects. But we are sure that the result will be worth it and we hope that you will be patient enough! However, we will come to Latvia at the end of the year and definitely will play some concerts. For now the best wishes to you and we will hear from us when we have a spare moment. Cheers!

Greetings from London! |

We are in England couple of days already, workig in a record studio with our new producer Andy Gill. We ourselves have a feeling that things have taken the right course, and this feeling is great. In other words, we have started to work seriously on our new CD. We spent quite a long time looking for the right producer, and now we think that we have found him. Andy is really experienced, he still plays in the legendary band Gang of Four; he has also worked with such prominent musicians as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Killing Joke, Michael Hutchins, Futureheads and others.
He has produced the new album of a quite recent band The Young Knives. English critics praise the album, and many call it the best debut of the year. Andy likes our songs, we are in good relationships, understand each other well, and the result most probably will be striking.
We have never worked in a studio as seriously as now. We plan to finish two songs this week: You Are So Young and Close Your Eyes. We are planning to return home for a while and most probably to show our new songs to public. It will not take long. Success to everybody!
